Trine developer Frozenbyte has an interesting new scheme to get players to try out its latest release.
Shadwen is a stealth action adventure game launching on GOG, the Humble Store and Steam sometime this year.
Hit any of those store links to download the newly-released Shadwen demo. A playable taster is news enough these days, but what makes this one especially noteworthy is that Frozenbyte has promised to lower the game’s launch price based on the cumulative score built up by all players.
At time of writing the game is expected to go for upwards of $31, but so far the community score is only a measly 252,365; Frozenbyte has left room for that number to grow as high as 99,999,999,999 so there seems to be plenty of scope for a decent discount.
Check out the video below to get a feel for the game; maybe you’ll be motivated to join the movement.
Self-interest is a terrific motivator so it’s a clever way to get people to try a game, and if I were Frozenbyte I’d be taking this opportunity to do some beta testing and crunching the heck out of harvested telemetry, too.
