Hitman plays well with the frame rate capped at 30 – and it rarely misses that target.
Digital Foundry has turned a critical eye on Hitman and found the frame rate situation has improved dramatically since beta.
The group’s full report, available on Eurogamer, notes a 10-15 boost in FPS in the retail PS4 build when compared to the beta version.
The Xbox One build holds up, too; while the PS4 has the advantage in general, both consoles manage 30FPS almost all the time, and the Xbox One does a little better in at least one area.
Unfortunately, there are moments where the frame rate drops below 30FPS, and if you don’t lock the game at 30FPS via the options menu you’ll notice a lot of variation between the baseline 30FPS and rare spikes to 60FPS. That said, Digital Foundry seemed quite pleased with Hitman with the frame rate lock in place.
Below you can see a detailed analysis of the PS4 frame rate as well as a comparison of the PS4 and Xbox One builds.
Hitman is releasing episodically via digital channels. The disc version has been delayed to January 2017.
