The Xbox survey asking if customers would be interested in selling back digital game titles was nothing to get excited over, says Microsoft.

Xbox 10% digital trade-in survey was just “exploratory” – Microsoft
According to Xbox marketing executive Aaron Greenberg, via Gamespot, it was only an “exploratory” survey and there are no current pans to offer a buyback program.

Speaking with industry analysts Michael Pachter and Colin Sebastian on Twitter, Greenberg said Microsoft isn’t “actively planning” to allow customer to seel digital titles back for 10% of the purchase price.

“We are not actively planning such a thing; surprised it was even asked in a survey,” he said. [We’re] always asking questions to understand the needs of our fans. No need to worry.”

When the survey hit on Monday, both analysts suggested such a program from Microsoft could impact its business dealings with retailers such as GameStop or Best Buy.

Sebastian said offering digital trade-ins could “create some noise near term” for GameStop’s used games business, he noted the suggested 10% was well below the current trade-in average at the retailer.
