We’re starting to see more of Code Vein from Bandai Namco, including what some of the boss fights will look like.
The game, which is “more than just anime Dark Souls”, should contain a great many boss fights, as is the nature of its genre.
This video below from IGN shows how the fight with Queen’s Knight can go down, with four different weapons equipped (spoiler: only one of their attempts to kill the boss is successful).
In this footage the player is assisted by an AI helper, who is able to attack and distract the boss, and also occasionally heal the player. Dodging and rolling is important, obviously, although this boss doesn’t look quite as punishing as some of the worst creatures From Software has cooked up. Still, nasty range on that lunge attack, and it does quite a bit of damage when it lands a hit. This is likely to be a fairly early boss as well.
IGN has also previously published a video of the game’s opening 17 minutes, which shows off more of the game’s moment to moment gameplay.
Code Vein is being developed by Shift, a studio best known for its God Eater games. It will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One at some point in 2018.
