EA has just released our first look at Battlefield 5.
This comes in the form of a very brief teaser trailer for Battlefield 5. The trailer was shared through EA’s social channels earlier today.
Funnily enough, it’s actually been sitting – unlisted – on EA’s YouTube channel for a couple of days and no one noticed. The only difference between the YouTube version, seen below, and the Twitter version is that the latter has the Xbox logo at the start.
Outside of confirming that team Xbox has the marketing rights for this year’s Battlefield, the trailer also confirms the game’s WW2 setting.
The few seconds of footage in there are likely from a Conquest round, as represented by the different capture points at the top. The time period is clearly WW2, which shows in the flag design (British Union Jack / German Iron Cross).
Other HUD elements also appear in the shot, giving us a look at an updated health bar in the middle, a simpler squad menu layout, and what looks to be a minimalist weapon HUD on the bottom right.
The shot is very cinematic considering this probably taken from a multiplayer game, but that could just be an elaborate takedown animation. Maybe front takedowns are returning?
The Battlefield 5 reveal event takes place on Wednesday, May 23. We’ll be on the ground, and working from home to bring you all the news as it happens.
