Sea of Thieves private lobbies feature taken out hours after going live due to server issues

Server stability issues have prevented Sea of Thieves players from enjoying some crucial newly-added features.

Yesterday was quite the day for Sea of Thieves players and developer Rare.

The anticipated patch 1.07 went live, bringing private lobbies, the ability to give other players items such as bananas and planks, and a few other updates to the progression system.

A little over two hours after, Rare realised that being able to give other players resources is causing major issues, and took servers offline in order to remove the feature.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it, as soon after players started reporting increased instances of the Allmondbeard errors. After investigating, Rare decided to take servers offline again for emergency maintenance.

This time, the developer removed the private lobbies feature, temporarily.

Until the time of writing, these features remain off while Rare still works to find the root cause. The game also still suffers from stability issues, despite the removal of the new features.

The last update was posted earlier this morning.
