The Battlefield 5 closed Alpha for PC kicks off tomorrow, and select players who have been chosen to participate can pre-load the client right now.
During EA Play 2018 it was announced a closed Alpha for Battlefield 5 would be held on PC, alongside several other tests.
The closed Alpha for PC will basically be a stress-test for the servers, a opportunity to provide feedback on gameplay elements, and will help DICE “improve several aspects of the game.”
Those chosen for the Alpha will help the developers test stability, balance, and more before the game’s launch in October.
Battlefield 5 closed Alpha, pre-load, start and end times
- Pre-load: chosen participants of the closed Alpha can start pre-loading the client today.
- Closed Alpha goes live: June 28 at 1am PST, 4am EST, 9am BST, 10am CEST.
- Closed Alpha end time: information was not provided as of press time, but it will be available for a limited time only.
Battlefield 5 closed Alpha content
Because balancing will be tested in the closed Alpha for Battlefield 5, expect to help by providing feedback on maps, weapons, and vehicles, Players will also be trying out the new attrition and immersion systems, and how immersion and squad play will change gameplay.
DICE will also be gathering data about game server and backend connectivity while testing matchmaking functionality.
Various modes and maps will be available such as Conquest mode and the Grand Operation Fall of Norway. The latter takes place on the map Arctic Fjord, and two of the modes that the Grand Operation strings together: Airborne and Breakthrough are includes.
Playing Airborne, players will either paradrop down to the battlefield to deal with enemy artillery, or fight to counter this attack if on the other team. Players will need to capture sectors as an attacker or keep the opposition at bay through on-the-fly planning.
Conquest will feature two teams using infantry and vehicular combat to seize a majority control of key control points.
During the closed Alpha, players will also take on one Special Assignment and several Daily Orders. The former consists of a series of in-game tasks, challenging a player’s skills on the battlefield. Complete the Special Assignment, and a Battlefield 5 Dog Tag will be added to the player’s profile. Upon purchasing the full game, it will be waiting for them.
Note that for the Special Assignment to be tracked, the player will need to activate it via the “ASSIGNMENTS” tab in the main menu.
Daily Orders are small challenges that are swapped out daily. They can for example challenge you to damage enemy vehicles or kill enemies of a certain class. In the closed Alpha, there won’t be any rewards for completing these.

How to participate in the Battlefield 5 closed Alpha
The Battlefield 5 closed Alpha is invite-only. Invitations with a code will be sent to a small group of Battlefield players, so check your inbox pronto.
These codes can be redeemed in the Origin client, as it is designed for PC players, and available in English only. It is, however, playable in these regions:

Streaming the Battlefield 5 closed Alpha
DICE said participants in the Battlefield 5 closed Alpha are free to share footage of their sessions. There will be no NDA to sign. In other words: go nuts.
Battlefield 5 releases worldwide October 19 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. A Play First trial will be available on October 11 for EA Access and Origin Access subscribers.
Those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition can play Battlefield 5 in full on October 16.
