EVE Online in first-person view - looks pretty special
By - Sunday, November 15, 2015
Game Athen: EVE Online might just weld enough new features onto its hugely impressive frame to out-muscle newer space sims.

A recent EVE Online update brought an experimental new feature to SiSi, the space MMO’s test server – First person camera.

The feature came with a number of camera control changes; you can read about those on the EVE Online forums. But instead of doing that I would encourage you to watch this video by DXFunz demonstrating the pleasures of first-person space flight.

Don’t expect a cockpit view, though. According to the YouTube comments on this video ships don’t have cockpits in EVE Online; pilots are suspended in “goo”. This is one of my favourite science fiction ideas, personally; future interfaces must surely move beyond our rubbish joystick and dashboard arrangements – and not just by going touch or motion-based.

Gosh, does anybody want to highjack the comments thread and just geek out over our favourite sci-fi? I’m down.
