The Division is coming out this week, and you’d almost think nothing else of importance were happening at all; Ubisoft Massive’s shared-worlds RPG has dominated the conversation for months and things will only get more intense from here.
Poor old Hitman will have to knock it out of the park to capture attention in this atmosphere, but with new content releasing through the year it has a good chance of picking up steam further down the track.
That’s about it for console triple-A, but there’s a lot of cool stuff happening on PC besides these two. Shardlight is the latest from Wadjet Eye, a team famous for its point-and-click adventures. The Culling is a Hunger Games-style online game which drew a lot of attention at announce.
Meanwhile, The Guest is an atmospheric first-person locked room puzzle, and cult-favourite shmup Deathsmiles is sure to please genre fans. WWE 2K16 finally makes its way to PC, too.
In the indie sphere, you hopefully haven’t forgotten about Kholat, a survival horror adventure based on the mysterious real-world deaths of nine hikers. It’s narrated by Sean Bean.
No new Wii U releases this week, although a series of favourites are being re-releases as Nintendo Selects so you should stick your head into your local retailer anyway. On the 3DS front, Fire Emblem Fates owners can grab the Revelations DLC.
As ever, some of the titles listed for March 8 are PlayStation Store exclusives, so if they don’t pop up you may need to wait for your local PSN refresh date.
