Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is an important part of gaming history. Don’t drop the ball, Infinity Ward.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the most important shooters of all time. Its release marked the beginning of Call of Duty’s dominance of a genre and (and arguably an industry), and perhaps more importantly, for many players it was their first online multiplayer shooter. Friendships were forged. Lifetime gaming habits were acquired.
So there’s a lot riding on the upcoming Remaster, which is bundled with certain editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Since the same studio is making the HD re-release, you’d expect there to be no problem – but if you know your gaming history, you’ll know that Infinity Ward was gutted when the core creative team walked with founders Jason West and Vince Zampella, signing with EA as Respawn.
Don’t worry, though; one of the founding fathers of Call of Duty is still watching over his baby, reaching out to Infinity Ward with some veteran advice.
“I told them – don’t fuck it up,” Zampella told Eurogamer.
“That’s my on the record response. I rang them up and said, honestly, don’t fuck it up. It’s a huge part of people’s gaming memories.”
Ah yes, very helpful. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare releases in November for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
