Please refrain from making any further puns about this “grand” occasion.
Grand strategy specialist publisher Paradox Interactive is celebrating how well its in-house games sell despite (or I guess because of) catering to a hardcore PC audience.
In a press release, Paradox announced that the newly-released Hearts of Iron 4 has already sold over 200,000 copies, which is a fantastic effort for just two weeks on sale – especially if the thought of layers of menus and a focus on World War II history makes you feel a bit faint.
Stellaris, Paradox’s first science-fiction grand strategy effort, released in May and has already sold over 500,000 copies. This is unsurprising given it smashed Paradox’s records with 200,000 sales in the first 24 hours.
Finally, Europa Universalis 4, something of a flagship for the publisher, has shifted over 1 million copies. This figure does not include expansions or DLC; only the base game.
To share its pleasure in these milestones, Paradox is giving away the Fredman’s Epistles DLC for Europa Universalis 4. Threough July 4, you can simply grab it from Steam. If you’re ready to upgrade from Crusader Kings 2 to something with a broader focus, this seems like a good time to get on board EU4.
