What is Amazon Prime day? It’s a 24 hour sale on the mega-retailer’s website. To take advantage of the offers you’ll need to be a Prime member, which usually costs a yearly subscription. But there’s a way around that which we’ll get to in a moment.

When is Amazon Prime day and when does it start?
Amazon Prime day is Tuesday July 12, when the retailer is promising big discounts across all departments including games, tech, gadgets and toys. It’s also offering decent deals during the whole week, so keep an eye on the site for its daily offers.
Amazon Prime Day will be offered to customers in the US, UK, Japan, Spain, Canada, France and three others so check your region for eligibility.
In the US Amazon Prime Day deals will begins at 3am ET. All other regions the deals will begin at midnight.
Amazon Prime day: the best game, gadget and tech deals
Amazon will be offering different deals through the 24 hour event, updating the site every five minutes. We’ll grab links to the best games, gadget and tech deals we see.
During Prime Day Amazon will have three main types of deals. Lightning Deals are for a limited time, usually a couple of hours at most. Spotlight Deals are on offer until stock runs out. And Prime Savings and Sales will run for the entire day offering big discounts.
How to get Amazon Prime
You can sign up for Amazon Prime and receive a free 30 day trial if you don’t want to subscribe, which charges a yearly fee. If you don’t want to be charged make sure you cancel the offer within the 30 days. You’ll get all the benefits of Prime during that period, which as well as discounts on items includes free same-day and two-day delivery, and access to services such as Prime Video and Prime Music

Get a £5 Amazon promo code
If you’re in the UK you can download and sign in to the official Amazon app on mobile/tablet for Android or iOS before 11:59pm on July 12, Amazon will gift you a £5 promo code within 30 days. The discount can’t be used during the Prime promotion, but it’s an extra incentive should you stick around after the event. It’s only handing out 300,000 codes for Amazon Prime day though, so get on that offer now if you want to take advantage. You’ll need to be an existing Prime customer to get the promo code.
On top of that offer, you can get another £1 promotion credit if you opt for the No Rush Delivery service. This means you’ll get your order within 3-5 working days, but for every order you place you’re given a £1 promotional credit towards future orders.
