If you’ve been wondering exactly why CD Projekt Red hasn’t released the E3 demo of Cyberpunk 2077 to the public, we might just have the answer.
While there’s no doubt that the Cyberpunk 2077 demo shown was impressive, CD Projekt Red just doesn’t think the quality is there yet. That’s because the game is still in pre-alpha.
When asked by Bankier if the game was still in alpha, CD Projekt president Adam Kici?ski said, “No, earlier. Therefore, we show the game behind closed doors – this is not the final quality yet.
“This is the most polished part of the game we have now, prepared in some sense to show it to people outside the company.”
During E3 2018, Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith said during an interview with YouTuber YongYea, “I’ve waited 30 years to get this, it was worth it. You guys can wait a few more years.”

That means the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is likely still a long way off. I wouldn’t expect it any sooner than late 2020, but at least that’s a while before we find out if we’re all rocking cybernetic implants in 2077.
