Namco has given PC players an early gift by unlocking Dark Souls Remastered ahead of its release date.
Dark Souls Remastered does not officially release until tomorrow, May 25. But, on Steam, the game unlocked overnight without any prior announcement from publisher Bandai Namco.
Users started noticing that the game had unlocked in their libraries, which got others to realise that the store page actually has a buy button. This doesn’t typically happen for games, and even when it does, it’s usually a matter of hours not days.
Regardless, Dark Souls Remastered is now available on Steam. The 50% off discount to owners of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition can also be made use of, dropping the price to $20. The download is nice and small, too, at just 6.6GB.
This is definitely a PC-only affair, as the PS4 and Xbox One version are still unreleased.
Dark Souls Remastered’s early reviews have largely been positive, but the game’s Steam review rating currently stands at ‘Mixed’.
